Art Song Discovery Series
The Art Song Discovery Series This informal series of free concerts features the winners of our Young Artist Competition. The concerts take place in neighborhoods throughout Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. They serve to introduce families and other members of the community to the art of the voice recital. With spoken commentary throughout the recital, these programs make art song accessible to audiences that may otherwise not have the chance to attend a performance. More >

Take Classical Song to our Schools
Vocal Arts DC gives students at middle and high schools in D.C., Northern Virginia and Maryland school districts an introduction to art song. Accompanied by a volunteer from the Vocal Arts Board of Directors, two young, professional singers and an accompanist visit four schools to perform three times a semester. These presentations evoke a wonderful response from the students, many of whom are singers and some who aspire to professional singing careers. More >

Young Artists Competition
To support the development of rising young local singers, Vocal Arts DC holds an annual juried competition for local singers, including Baltimore and Annapolis. Two winners are chosen each year and are engaged by Vocal Arts DC to appear in joint recitals in at least four Washington area venues. This competition and the opportunity for these young artists to appear in recital before the public has become an important feature of vocal education in the greater Washington area. Many winners of the competition have gone on to significant professional careers. More >
